Naruto is a boy who dreams of becoming Hokage. He has the spirit of the nine-tailed demon fox inside him.

Born in the Konohagakure Village to the fourth Hokage (village leader), Naruto is orphaned when his father sacrifices himself to seal a fox demon into Naruto's infant body in order to save the village. As a result he spends most of his childhood ostracized, though at ninja school he manages to make friends with his classmates Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, the former of which he develops a brotherly relationship with until Sasuke leaves for Orochimaru to gain power.

Naruto was born in the series as an orphan, shunned and looked down upon, always trying to get other peoples attention through multiple shenanigans and plain out foolish activities, like spray painting the Stone Head Statues of Konoha's Hokage at the front and fore most area of the village, the opening scene in the entire series of Naruto. His sensei, Iruka, catches him after Naruto successfully misleads the other two ninja that had been chasing him down for his heinous and very offensive acts. After getting lambasted for what he'd done, Iruka decided to take Naruto out for their favorite meal : ramen. It should be noted that the word "Naruto" signifies the small swirling spirals of fish cakes usually found in ramen from Japan.

Naruto, the next day, was going to take his exam to make it out of the Ninja Academy, and finally start being able to go on missions and "prove" himself to the villagers, and one day that he would be their Hokage, the most powerful ninja in the village, and also their leader. All his life, since people knew that the Kyuubi nine tails fox, a beast that had destroyed their village, was sealed within his belly, they had shunned him and looked the other way whenever he was around, and Naruto was never able to figure out why, he just thought that people hated him for whatever reason.
